Christ said that if we seek Him, we will find Him. What happens when we do find Him? During our singles scavenger hunt we spent quite a bit of energy guessing clues and finding items on our lists, but if we don’t find a use for them, then we have only a pile of stuff that doesn’t really mean anything to us--except for the fact that we found
it --we met the requirement.
How many “Christians” only find Christ when they seek Him--to fill the void that only He can
fill--only to be frustrated or duped into thinking that this is where our search ends? When in fact it’s just the beginning! When we find Christ--like
finding a bunch of stuff from a required Scavenger Hunt list--we have “won” the prize of salvation.
But, there is so much more to this game we call life. Now we have to decide what we’ll do with what we’ve found. Most of the items found during our singles scavenger hunt were used to create dishes for our Mexican taco dinner. (A few were thrown in to have a laugh and some fun.) When we find Christ and ask Him to be the Lord of our lives we’ve only begun our spiritual scavenger hunt with the most important first prize, Jesus. After this we have to find many other things that will help us continue to grow and become more Christ-like (a Christian). If we simply
find Christ, but we do nothing with what we’ve found in Him, then have we really begun the transformation mentioned in Romans 12:2? Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…
We
must ask, "Are we changing into something that God’s wants us to
be or are we just saved?"
While I was dating a guy a few years ago we had a discussion on how deep a person’s (potential mate’s) commitment to Christ should be. He came to the conclusion that he wanted someone who was “just saved.” He didn’t want someone that was overly committed or convicted about things. We obviously disagreed on this so we soon parted ways, but this is an issue every Christian must face. We have to ask ourselves, “Am I going to go all the way with this Christ-like life style or am I going to choose to take
salvation without truly giving myself to Christ.” And I guess this begs the question, “If I choose to refuse to give myself completely to Christ (refusing to allow Him to change me into His image) am I truly saved?”
