	Are You Plugged In?


Preparations: • a small fan with electrical plug - to relieve the heat for the kids • extension cord (unplugged from the wall at the beginning.) Lesson: I’ve noticed that sometimes it gets hot in here. Others have noticed it to. I thought we could be nice and bring in a fan for someone to use. Could someone please turn on the fan? (But its not plugged in - not even to the extension cord). Someone else try to flip the switch again, try it again. That doesn’t seem to be working. Can one of you try to spin it – then maybe it will start up. OK we may have to do it the old way just blow on the blades and see if we can get them to go around. Arrrgh - it just won't work. Does someone know what this end of the wire is called? (plug) What do you do with it? (Plug it into the electrical socket – but when they do plug it into the extension cord - it still won't work (they can retry all the efforts. Finally they will discover they need to be plugged into the real power source!) Before we plug the extension cord into the wall and get the real power…did you know while we had to work at solving the problem of getting the fan to work, it made me think of us and the things we want to work for us in life. For instance: Everyone wants their lives to "work" just right. They want relief: Help from disappointment, things to make them happy etc. What are some things that you think would work to make your life “work”.
People try all kinds of ways to make their live “work” the way they want it to. They think if they buy things – that will make them happy. BUT then their money is gone when its time to pay the rent or buy groceries. People will try to fix their life by going to church one day a week. But if you really don’t know God, you won’t care about obeying HIM. People sometimes forget all about the message they heard in church during the rest of the week. People even ask someone they know or even a stranger to try to fix things for them – make me happy, pay my bills, etc. But that’s not the answer to really fixing the problems we have in life. BUT if we PLUG INTO the REAL POWER source - GOD/JESUS - we get the power to think different and do different. We learn to read HIS Word, obey HIS commands, and find praying and leaning on God for the answers to our problems, we can find true happiness and a life that works just fine! Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. We don’t fully understand about GOD’s Power but we can sure see the effect of HIM in our lives. IF they are plugged into GOD, the Holy Spirit will be felt and seen in the actions around us. See-when the fan is plugged into the power we see the effect. The air went from still and silent to moving and changing. The breeze effects each one of you and those around you see it. When the POWER of the Holy Spirit works in you, people around you see changes, you feel better, have joy, make better decisions and you never have to feel alone again. GOD will help you through problems of life – as long as you are plugged into HIM and you do that by reading HIS Word, Obeying HIS Word, and Praying to God each day. Lets PLUG into the POWER OF GOD now! Suggested Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father. God you are AWESOME. The Bible even tells us that. ALL power is given to YOU! YOU made all things and you made me! When things aren’t going well for me, I will pray to you and plug into YOUR power. I will wait on your answers and obey you. Thank you for loving me so much.
